Caspar Brötzmann Massaker (Germania) - Der Abend der Schwartzen Folklore (1992). Uno dei maestri dell’hard rock nichilista. Che dire? Gli strumenti son sempre gli stessi, chitarra basso batteria, ma la spinta liberatoria e fiammeggiante si è disseccata e cristallizzata come le interiora di uno schizofrenico. Le impennate hendrixiane (Bass totem) e i ritmi marziali annegano in pantani distorti e in silenzi carichi di minaccia. Caspar Brötzmann, voce, chitarra; Eduardo Delgado Lopez, basso; Danny Arnold Lommen, batteria.

Caspar Brötzmann Massaker - Koksofen (1993). Brötzmann porta a perfezione la sintesi fra il power trio degli anni Settanta e gli echi industriali e apocalittici dei Novanta. L’alternanza è fra disastrose tumescenze elettriche e pozze statiche dove un semplice strumming prefigura un’attesa carica d’angoscia. Disco d’eccezione a cominciare dal classico Hymne. Formazione come sopra.

Gate (Nuova Zelanda) - The lavender head 1.1.1.2-2.1.2.2 (1998). Dead C - Bruce Russell = Michael Morley = Gate. Capita l' equazione? Quattro brani di circa venti minuti: chitarra, tastiere, batteria liofilizzati dall’elettronica e spesso imbozzolati in loop insistiti. Le singole sequenze sono puri pretesti per originare, tramite la serialità, una nuova dimensione sonora ed estetica. Impossibile da definire e resocontare, il disco ripone la propria apprezzabilità solo nell’ascolto diretto. In tale minimalismo inquietante spicca l’eccellente The blurred tree.
